Health and Fitness Assessments
For individuals who are wondering if their current health, fitness and
lifestyle regimens are adequately addressing their needs, Darline Turner-Lee
reviews the current habits and treatments, makes recommendations and supports
the client through the change process. A series of at least 4 visits.
Workshops and Seminars
These presentations are ideal for community groups, workplace lunch series
or civic organizations. Darline Turner-Lee presents the latest research
and practical, hands on information on the following women’s health
topics:
You Can Lose 6 (Fat) Pounds In One Week!! (And Other Fad Diet Myths!)
This seminar addresses the reasons why fad diets don’t work. The
actual physiology of weight gain will be presented; the equivalent of
a pound of fat in calories, the amount of energy needed to burn one pound
of fat, and nutrient needs for safe weight loss.
The Menstrual Cycle
This seminar presents an in-depth review of the hormones that regulate
the menstrual cycle, and the communications between the hormones and the
target organs. Following the presentation of the “normal”
cycle, we address what happens when miscommunications occur between the
hormones and target organs, and what happens when communications between
the hormones and target organs fail.
Behavioral and Lifestyle Management of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
This seminar presents the symptoms and causes of PMS. Once the attendees
have an understanding of the causes of PMS, they are then presented with
tools and skills that they can employ to relieve the symptoms.
Behavioral and Lifestyle Management of Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids
This workshop is the advanced phase of the PMS seminar. Because endometriosis
and fibroids cause such extensive PMS and other reproductive issues, special
attention is given to these ailments with particular tools and tips for
managing the symptoms and problems they create.
Maintaining Optimum Reproductive Health Factors Affecting Fertility
This workshop addresses how ordinary day-to-day activities and habits
affect a woman’s reproductive cycle. Topics covered include diet
and nutrition, exercise, stress, sexually transmitted diseases, smoking,
sleep and alcohol.
Hormonal and Non-Hormonal Management of Menopause
The workshop gives a review of what occurs during menopause, physically
and hormonally. There is a review of hormone replacement therapy, the
pros and the cons, and available options for hormone replacement therapy
(natural vs. synthetic). Finally, behavioral and lifestyle tips for managing
menopausal symptoms are offered.
